Cell Sniffing, HackRF1ing, Quansheng UV-K5ing Signals Everywhere
SDR never gets old. While hunting for new tools, I stumbled onto Sarah's Forge—an awesome digital workshop by an indie developer building gear for the radio community.
Portable Repeaters & Cell Scopes
First up is HackRF Parrot. Connect your HackRF to an Android via USB OTG, record IQ data, and re-transmit it instantly. Then there's CellScope, a desktop tool for live-tracking UEs and data usage on cell sites using a HackRF or LibreSDR.
Safe Scanning & Failed Hacks
Over in her open-source section, UV-Scan is custom firmware that disables the transmit function on cheap Quansheng UV-K5 radios, turning them into safe, receive-only scanners.
She also recently blogged about an attacker hammering her site with 400,000 requests. They threw everything at it (SQLi, XSS) and failed completely. The lesson? Basic PHP prepared statements and output escaping still work perfectly.
